The major uses of phthalic anhydride are in the manufacture of plasticizers, alkyd resins, and unsaturated polyester resins. Lesser uses are for phthalocyanine pigments, dyes, perfumes, pharmaceuticals, tanning and curing agents, insect repellants, and a variety of chemical intermediates.
